Toulouse. Brand new premises for the Toulouse Home Care Association
The Toulouse Association of Home Care (ATSAD) installed since 2017 at Place Dupuy, inaugurated its brand new premises on Friday. A space redefined for better service and welcoming of families. Management team, caregivers, helpers and patients were brought together in a festive atmosphere around culinary and tasting workshops. ATSAD, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, manages a home nursing service (SSIAD) covering around ten districts in the city centre. Objective: avoid hospitalization or ensure a rapid return home, delay or prevent placement in an institution. “The average age of our patients is 82 years old and our oldest is 101 years old. The desire to stay at home is more and more significant, but unfortunately we cannot satisfy all requests”, regrets Dominique Lestang, new director of association. With a team of 15 employees for around sixty patients, the ATSAD is a local structure on a human scale that provides quality care. Qualified nurses and orderlies come to your home twice a day for care prescribed by the attending physician, hygiene or comfort care, and dressing. Françoise Brault-Noble, president and founder of ATSAD remembers the beginnings. “At the time, we started with 25 patients”. But home care would not be possible without caregivers who can also find help at ATSAD in the support group led by Lucille, nurse coordinator, assisted by a geriatric psychiatrist.
