The tragic news
Tragic news has deeply affected the princely family of Monaco. On Sunday June 19, a violent fire took place in the principality. It is an apartment fire that broke out in a building on Avenue Princesse-Grace. During this incident, the fire soldiers who came to save lives lost one of their own. This is Sergeant Thierry Pérard. Many were saddened by this disappearance, including Albert II, the Prince of Monaco.
Prince Albert II leaves a heavy task to his sister
HSH Albert II of Monaco had to go to Norway previously for other engagements. He went there for the commemorations of the disappearance of Prince Albert I. For this reason, Albert II could not be present to pay tribute to the missing fire soldier. His Highness therefore left this heavy task to his sister. The prince still wanted to show his sadness via a press release.
A national tribute for a fallen soldier
The royal family announced on June 23 that the prince will not be able to come to the military funeral honors. As a result, he will be represented by his sister Caroline, Princess of Hanover.
On June 24, the funeral mass was announced at the Cathedral of Monaco by Colonel Luc Fringant, first aide-de-camp. Sergeant Thierry Perard died while performing his duty as a firefighter. The Prince of Monaco, husband of Charlene of Monaco, therefore wanted a national tribute to be paid to him.
The Princess of Monaco, very distinguished during the ceremony
The Princess of Monaco was of course presented at the ceremony, to represent the royal family. We see it on a video posted on the Facebook account of the diocese of Monaco. It was Mgr Dominique-Marie David who interpreted the funeral mass of Sergeant-chef Thierry Perard. The ceremony was broadcast live from the Cathedral of Monaco and Caroline of Monaco appeared very marked there.
Prince Albert II in solidarity with the grief of the family
After hearing the sad news, the prince reacted quickly. He spoke on Instagram, two days after the tragedy and retained the courage of the missing sergeant.

“HSH Prince Albert II learned with great sadness of the death, yesterday in the exercise of his functions, of Sergeant Thierry Perard. For the first time in its history, the principality’s firefighter unit lost one of its own, in operation in the performance of its duty to save lives. His Serene Highness wishes to assure the wife and daughter of this Firefighter of the part, that with His family, He takes to their deep sorrow. He also endorses the strong emotion of the Principality’s Fire Brigade, and of all the public forces, disturbed by this terrible event. »
Who was Thierry Pérard?
Thierry Perard died at the age of 51. He had 26 years of service. He was also a husband and father of a 21-year-old girl. He started as a young firefighter in 1985 in Saint-Martin-de-Crau.
Before arriving in the Principality in 1995, he completed his military service at the Brest naval base as a marine firefighter. Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvard paid tribute to Thierry Perard saying:
“He has always done honor to his profession. »
The head of the fire brigade told a comment Perard rose through the ranks thanks to his excellent results from his incorporation in Monaco.
His daughter honors him
Thierry Perard, during his lifetime, undertook work in their family home. His daughter, wanting to finance her father’s work, decided to open a Letchi kitty which she named “For my papounet D’amour”.
She therefore wrote a few words for her beloved father:
“My dad left to join the stars on Sunday on Father’s Day… for me it was the worst day of my life. I lost my pillar my reason to live. I would never have imagined at only 20 years old losing my dad, there were so many things to see together and I still had so much to learn from him… Thierry my dad was an exceptional person with his hand on his heart, he is my pride, life has decided to take him away from me… now he is watching me and will advise me from above… i love you dad and i will love you all my life.
