San Marino. The sentence of the Supreme Court in the USA: reflection by Don Gabriele Mangiarotti
We receive and publish a reflection by Don Gabriele Mangiarotti
We have learned: “Speak the truth, in the language of truth”
Looking at certain news on social media, sometimes one is disconcerted: it seems that the drought, announced in time by the European Commission and dramatically experienced in these hours, is a hoax that is denied by some images of rivers full of water. And so what the opposition politicians claim is beautifully put aside. A newspaper reports: «The leader of the Brothers of Italy recalls that“ the country has been in a drought emergency for weeks. Our agriculture is seriously threatened and energy production is also at risk. But all this was foreseen ”».
Could this be the way to explain the difference between “perceived heat” and “real heat”?
I made these considerations by reading the comments on the sentence of the American Supreme Court and seeing the reactions displaced in America and in many parts of the world, making a comparison with an investigation – numerically reduced, but seriously conducted and significant -, carried out in the USA, regarding the beliefs of the American people on the subject of life and abortion. I read: “An astonishing poll revealed what, according to the adverse reactions of the media after the Roe ruling, no one would expect. That is, nearly 90% of Americans are in favor of the rights of unborn children. And a good percentage also say that aborting means ending a human life, in spite of my body my choice.
Americans United for Life (AUL), in collaboration with YouGov[1]published i results of a national survey of 1,000 American adults surveyed about their attitudes towards abortion and legal rights. The poll took place from 6 to 13 May 2022 in the wake of the leaked draft by the United States Supreme Court on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
The results reveal that as many as 89% of Americans support the “rights of the unborn child.” An overwhelming majority (80%) also affirm that a child has the right to be born. The survey also found that the majority of Americans believe a fetus is a person: 31% say it becomes a person “when a pregnant woman becomes pregnant,” 24% “when a heartbeat develops” and 10% when the brain develops.
[…] A slight majority (51%) of Americans also believe that abortion “ends the life of a human being before birth,” while 20% say it does not. A quarter (28%) replied “it depends”. In particular, in light of the results of the AUL / YouGov National Survey, 39% of respondents identified themselves as favorable to choice, with 32% identifying as pro-life and 29% not identifying with any vision. specific.”
These are interesting figures especially when compared to the proposals of many companies that undertake to support the expenses of employees to practice abortion: Disney, Warner, Comcast (Universal), Netflix, Sony, Meta (Facebook), Sundance Festival, Patagonia, a huge number of Hollywood characters. And if you read together with the external ones of those who only want to affirm the woman’s right to get rid of the fruit of conception, you will understand the reasons for this position. It would be enough here to re-read Michelle Obama’s words: «I am heartbroken today… This horrible decision will have devastating consequences and must be a wake-up call, especially for the young people who will bear the burden. I know this is not the future you have chosen for your generation, but if you give up now, you will inherit a country that does not look like you or any of the values you believe in … If you are like me and want to start now, I encourage you to channel the your frustration and anger in action by involving you. Organizations like Planned Parenthood and The United State of Women, among many others, have resources you can turn to if you want to help others or if you need help. “
The people against the overwhelming power of the rich and the media, it could be argued. That excessive power that does not renounce being violent (naturally accusing the adversaries of this, considered enemies and allphobic, when not clerical-fascist, obscurantist, medieval …) when they are in the presence of different cultural and political positions. Even the local media are not exempt from this habit “criminalizing” the different.
And it is striking to read the considerations of those who, always prone to the dictates of politically correct, in this case present themselves as the subversive, by all means, of what a democratic institution has established. Ah, I forgot, but what does not have their imprimatur is not democratic at all.
Of course, the sentence of the Supreme Court to become a new beginning in the defense of life without seeing and without but, however, requires that precisely in defense of life we operate with all those aids and supports that they can try to implement, starting from education and a family policy worthy of the name.
