Cambio now also offers cargo bikes for rent in Brussels

After shared cars, mobility player Cambio now also offers shared cargo bikes for rent in Brussels. The initiative is part of the regional project Cairgo Bike, which aims to make cargo bikes a fully-fledged alternative to passenger cars and vans. The electric cargo bikes can be rented from 28 June at two Cambio stations.

Many Brussels estimates still show a car that actually stands still too much. The car seems indispensable for shopping, but using car-sharing of a cargo bike can be a fully-fledged alternative and sometimes cheaper option for short distances, according to Brussels Minister of Mobility Elke Van den Brandt.

«Combined families have more choice in their mode of transport thanks to Cambio. It is also good for the region, because cargo bikes take up less parking space, are quiet and good for our air quality. And the children love it”, concludes Van den Brandt.

The Cambio shared cargo bikes are currently parked at the Spiegel car park in Jette and at the Colruyt store at Jourdan in Etterbeek. Two more stations will be added shortly. Renting a cargo bike costs the Cambio customer 3.5 euros per hour.

At Colruyt in Etterbeek there is now room for four Poppy shared cars, two Cambio cars and three Cambio shared cargo bikes.

«We are pleased with the result of our collaboration: to make available in the same zone a rich range of shared mobility in the immediate vicinity of homes and public transport,» says Frédéric Van Malleghem, director of Cambio Brussels.
