The celebration of the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss starts in Bulgaria
The world tour of the Vienna Schonbrunn Orchestra on the occasion of this year will begin with three concerts from Bulgaria
The main concert of the Strauss gala evening “Night under the stars with the Vienna Schonbrunn Orchestra” will take place on August 8 in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in the capital from 20.30. Before him there will be concerts on August 6th in Veliko Tarnovo and on the 7th in Varna.
“The idea is to have bright and visible events that put Sofia on the European and world map. Last year she gave a great concert of Sonya Yoncheva and Placido Domingo, this year our gift to the city is this concert,” said Miroslav Borsos, Deputy Mayor. of Sofia Municipality.
The managing director of the orchestra of the Schönbrunn Palace – Vienna, Peter Josek, said that it was an honor for them to come to Sofia and that they would perform in front of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. “This concert will happen to everyone and is so special and we are all very enthusiastic that you will have the opportunity to perform this concert in front of the beautiful cathedral, such a smart place for Sofia,” he added.
The concert program will include not only the famous works of Johann Strauss and the whole dynasty, but there will be other “jewelry”, as Mr. Josek put it.
There will be arias, waltzes, and a fun regiment based on gossip spreading in Vienna. The waltz “On the Quiet White Danube” and “Radecki March”, with which each concert ends, will also be performed. At the same time, Mr. Hasek mentioned that in addition to playing, the orchestra may also sing.
The concertmaster of the orchestra of the Schönbrunn Palace – Tanya Dzharova-Salustio, a native of Plovdiv, told about the history of the orchestra. “It was formed 25 years ago and it is an international orchestra, and each of us will study in Vienna and is associated with Viennese music. On the other hand, each carries the color of the inner nationality, which makes the orchestra so interesting,” she added. There are Austrians, Bulgarians, Australians, Hungarians, Latin Americans, South Africans, but what unites them is that they all studied in Vienna.
Miroslav Borsos said about her that she is the great jewel because she is Bulgarian, she trades from Plovdiv and came to Vienna, and now she is the concertmaster of this orchestra.
Tanya Dzharova also mentioned that the works they select for the orchestra’s program are according to the reaction of the publication. “We don’t just play Strauss, we play contemporaries.”
There will be many surprises at the concert, as the organizers hinted at the possibility of the Bulgarian trail.
2025 is the year when the anniversary of Strauss’s birth will be released and the world tour organized on this occasion will start in Sofia in August, Josek said. This tour will last until 2025, with many other concerts around the world.
