Index – Domestic – NNK reveals how many confirmed smallpox infections there are in Hungary
There are already 12 confirmed smallpox in Hungary, the National Center for Public Health (NNK) told MTI.
According to the information, another six people have been diagnosed with smallpox in the National Laboratory for Safety with Pathogens, increasing the number of diagnosed cases to twelve.
The patients are all male, the youngest is 28 years old and the oldest is 43 years old, and most of them live in Budapest.
The territorially competent epidemiological authority conducts epidemiological examinations in all patients, including contact research. The NNK urges anyone who notices symptoms of smallpox to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Virologist Gábor Kemenesi recently said that smallpox may even develop in Europe. According to the expert, the virus spreads from one animal to another, mainly in the close-knit family, home environment.
The first symptoms – tiredness, fever, swollen lymph nodes, headache and muscle aches – appear 5-13 days after the infection, and then rashes appear within 1-3 days after the fever, which also start in the rest of the body from the head. they spread and then later put up, erupt and dry out.
