Historic moment: European Council grants EU membership to Ukraine and Republic of Moldova / Charles Michel: “Our future is together”
UPDATE: The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated that it is a “historic moment”, which marks a “crucial step” in the path of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to the EU.
Charles Michel congratulated Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Maya Sandu, as well as the people of Ukraine and Moldova.
“Our future is together,” the European Council president wrote on Twitter.
Okay. #EUCO has just decided on EU candidate status for Ukraine and Moldova.

The initial news: The European Council decided on Thursday to grant the status of candidate countries for EU accession to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, President Klaus Iohannis announced.
President Iohannis also wrote on Twitter that he reached this exceptional decision with the strong support and intense efforts of Romania.
The European Council also decided to give the European perspective to Georgia.
