Czech Presidency of the EU: Prague will run a Eurotram
On July 1, the Czech Republic will become the presiding state in the Council of the European Union for half a year, thanks to which it will Prague will become the symbolic capital of the European Union. For this festive occasion, a number of interesting events are planned not only in Prague – from concerts, exhibitions and lectures to workshops.
Alice Bromovská’s proposal won
One of the Prague’s initiatives is a tram with a unique field, which was created especially on the occasion of the presidency. “We approached high schools to enter a competition for a graphic design of a tram sticker. The winner was student Aneta Bromovská from high school graphic school Michael with his proposal Science and Health“said Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) at the unveiling of the tram
In her design, Brom depicted her lungs, brain, and heart in soft pastel colors. Among the authorities are then comic bubbles that passengers provide various information from the field of science, research and healthcare. Thus, we learn, for example, that “in Sweden, they are testing a device to quickly determine the type of stroke,” or that IKEM has performed over 1,300 heart transplants“. Until Sunday, June 26, this special tram will run on line number 17, then Praguers and the tourist metropolis will take all year round on route 22.

This is definitely not the only event that Prague is planning during the presidency. A rich program is planned from July 24 to July 1, for example in front of Rudolfinum. “Weather permitting, and now it seems so, we’ll inflate a unique helium balloon there, which brings the acrobat back to the sky in a day, with the panorama of Prague Castle in the background. There are only about 15 of these balloons in the world, which will be a unique spectacle, “said event manager Jakub Vedral, who is behind the celebrations in the form of the Prague Heart of Europe campaign.
The city administration also approved in the spring that will provide its representative premises such as the mayor’s residence, the Old Town Hall and others. The city even offered to provide audiovisual equipment, other items such as catering will be provided by the organizers themselves.
