The storms over the Czech Republic are slowly subsiding. More than 18,000 households are without electricity

The Czechia was hit by very strong storms on Monday, which was warned by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (CHMI) on Sunday. In many places they were accompanied by hail. The strongest were the storms in Pardubice, where a supercelle was formed.
On Monday morning, strong storms swept through the Czech Republic. Shortly after nine o’clock, Prague darkened under a thick storm cloud, it began to rain and thunder, and it cooled significantly. “There is a roll cloud for strong thunderstorms, which is a cloud that forms beneath storm clouds (separated from it and has the shape of a tube) and can be several kilometers long and occurs in rapidly advancing storm clouds. Its rotation is caused by rising and falling currents in storm, “meteorologist Dagmar Honsová told TN.cz.
Two storms swept through Prague on Monday. The first of them appeared in the capital after nine o’clock, the second arrived at about four in the afternoon. Although neither of them lasted long, the strong wind and heavy rain caused complications in several places. For example, the Prague Zoo had to stop operating the cable car. “In connection with a strong storm, we intervened in Prague in 16:40 in 10 cases. These were fallen branches, loose metal sheets and lagoons on the roads or flooded areas, “Prague firefighters said on their twitter.
However, the problems of Prague did not end there. The CHMI announced the highest level of flood warning in Prague shortly before six o’clock in the evening. The warning mainly concerns the Dalejský brook in Prague’s Hlubočepy. The stream there threatened to spill out of the banks. However, the danger of floods in Prague is over; lasted until eight o’clock in the evening.

Shortly before one o’clock in the afternoon, the CHMI warned of a strong storm advancing northeast through the Třebíč region. “A very strong storm is advancing through the Třebíč region, accompanied by a gust of wind, probably as much as 90 km / h, significant lightning activity, or even hail and torrential rain. The storm will advance to the northeast,” the CHMI said in a meteorological warning.
Due to the damage caused by the wind, firefighters drove to several trees that fell on the road. “We intervened mainly in technical assistance in removing trees from the road. It was mainly in the Třebíč region,” said Nikola Pátková, spokeswoman for the Vysočina Region fire brigade.
In the evening, the regions on the southern side of the Czech Republic, especially the South Bohemian, South Moravian and Vysočina regions, were most endangered. There were torrential rains and gusts of wind. CHMI strongly recommended securing windows, doors and loose objects. In some places, streams could also be flooded. Under no circumstances should people enter or enter them.
The storms also hit hard in the Pardubice region. The largest and most dangerous storm cell, the so-called supercell, was formed directly above Pardubice. According to the CHMI, the main threats were heavy rains, strong winds and heavy hail. Some hailstones were more than 2 centimeters in diameter. Supercelle pulled further east, but after a while she dissolved.
Thunderstorms shut down power lines in many places. In the Central Bohemian Region, about 13,000 households prepared lightning and wind currents. Another 5,000 are still without electricity in the Pardubice region. CEZ is already working to eliminate faults on the high voltage line.

“Supertropic weekend temperatures are alternated by thunderstorms, which are rare and very strong, ie accompanied by dangerous meteorological phenomena, such as hail,” said Hons. “On Monday morning, the storm showed a wind speed of 90 km / h. The Pilsen region and Prague were hit by a torrential rain of 30 mm, so far it fell to 18 mm. accompanied by a strong wind in particular, “added Dagmar Honsová.
People observed the same cloud as the one that appeared in Prague elsewhere in the Czech Republic. This is what the sky in Jihlava looked like:
