Prague wants to reduce the benefits for electric car owners within the blue zones
At a meeting on June 16, 2022, representatives of the capital m of Prague proposal of changes in the system of paid parking zone (ZPS). The final form was created by mutual agreement of the opposition and the coalition. At stake, for example, is the introduction of an hourly resident credit system for parking visitors’ vehicles, favoring low-emission or zero-emission vehicles exclusively for people with permanent residence in Prague, or automated evaluation of offenses within the ZPS. City Council m of Prague discussed the proposal of the Deputy Minister for Transport Adam Scheinherr and Deputy Tomáš Portlík to change the system of the paid parking zone, where each resident would get from the capital the possibility of parking (10 CZK / h) in the form of credit for 120 hours, or for 60 hours a year for your visit free of charge. However, the team does not end the proposed changes.

Other proposed measures will affect the popular benefits, it is associated with the parking of electric cars and hybrids. Specifically, the management of Prague wants to change the local benefits of zero-emission and low-emission vehicles only for residents and entrepreneurs. Due to the growing number of low-emission vehicles (hybrids and electric cars), this is a possible limitation of benefits only to residents and subscribers. Today, however, everyone has it and without restrictions. The scope and form of the benefits of the subject will be an examination of the legislative possibilities that the capital has. The aim is to reduce the financial demands of parking low-emission and zero-emission vehicles exclusively for persons with a permanent residence in Prague and entities based in Prague. At present, parking in ZPS in Prague is free to allow all low-emission and non-emission stays, regardless of the permanent residence or seat of its owner or operator.

The city will also check the possibility of setting parking permit prices according to the emission and length parameters of vehicles. The aim is fair treatment of public space and the impact of vehicle operation on the environment. As it turns out, the popular transition to electromobility receives the first unexpected blow under the belt in Prague. The motivation for the inhabitants of Prague to switch to cleaner cars is drastically disrupted by the newly intended step, and not all Praguers have a permanent residence in their place of residence. In this connection, the possible solution of offenses for unauthorized parking in blue zones should also be simplified. The ambition of Prague is to obtain suspicion under certain conditions, it immediately became an offense without further necessary intervention by city police officers, which made the whole system significantly more efficient.
