Prague City Council: They acted for over 20 hours, the opposition went home
The negotiations were also extended by a number of breaks, during which the clubs discussed the next steps. In the late evening, the deputies managed to discuss only a few points of the extensive program. It took the most time to negotiate the program and discuss the situation in the DPP, which in some places went deep into the past. Before leaving, the opposition also unsuccessfully proposed the dismissal of Mayor Zdeněk Hřiba (Pirates) and his Deputy Minister of Transport, Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě).
Representative YES Patrik Nacher repeatedly suggested adjourning the meeting with the proviso that the deputies would commit him to it in less than two weeks at an extraordinary meeting, which the opposition has already requested on the basis of the collected signatures. The mayor must summon him anyway. The coalition did not agree, so opposition deputies went home. The vast majority of items on the agenda were voted without major discussions only by representatives of the coalition, of which exactly a majority of 33 votes remained in the hall.
However, the long meetings of the council are not published in Prague. One of the longest meetings was in May 2019, which began on Thursday at 08:30 and ended on Friday after 07:00. At the end of the following year, the deputies also met for about 20 hours. The heated meeting also took place in 2015, when four councilors were dismissed late at night. This led to the disintegration of the then coalition ANO, CSSD and Trojkoalice (Greens, KDU-CSL and STAN). A few months later, the same parties agreed to renew it with the new staff of the council.
