When the train stops: woman robs and steals armed with a knife
Hanover (ots) –
Yesterday afternoon at 3:30 a.m., a 41-year-old woman robbed and stole a smartphone and sports bag from two men (34.19) while a long-distance train was stopped.
While the train stopped in Hanover, the woman from Nienburg (Weser) boarded the long-distance train and went on a thieving tour of the wagons. In an inattentive moment of the 34-year-old traveler, she stole his discarded smartphone and quickly continued through the wagons. In another wagon, she stole a sports bag from the 19-year-old. Both acts were observed by other travelers and a train attendant who informed the men. The woman dropped the sports bag and quickly exited the train. The 34-year-old man caught up with the woman on the platform and spoke to her about the theft of the smartphone. When the woman tried to flee again, he held her. The woman bit his hand, injuring him. In addition, she pulled a handy knife out of her jacket and threatened to use it.
An off-duty federal police officer in uniform became aware of the situation and was able to separate the parties. The knife was secured and a patrol from the Federal Police Inspectorate in Hanover was requested. This arrested the woman, who had been convicted several times, for the time being.
When the 34-year-old man went to get his personal belongings from the train, he found his smartphone on the floor. The woman had obviously put up with that when she noticed that she had been observed in the act.
She is now under investigation for robbery, theft with a gun and assault.
The Federal Police advises all train passengers not to lose sight of their personal belongings in the station or on the train journey and to always be alert.
