When will a new census of the population of the Republic of Moldova be conducted and how much will it cost
The nearest population census of the Republic of Moldova is planned for 2024. The National Bureau of Statistics announces that the census will collect information of public interest about the population and housing – necessary for policy development, monitoring and evaluation; arguing human development decisions; for scientific research and business development.
The total estimated budget of the population and housing census, proposed for 2024, is estimated at 329.2 million lei, including about 36.8 million lei for the agricultural module.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet approved a draft law establishing the regulation of censuses, in the form of institutions of general framework rules, valid for all future counts. This will make it easier to organize and conduct censuses and help reduce the administrative and budgetary resources required for this purpose.
The document also refers to the process of planning, collecting, processing, evaluating and disseminating data about people and their homes, as well as the production of census statistical indicators.
It should be noted that the organization and conduct of previous censuses was regulated by the adoption of regulations specific to each action.
The last general census of the population and housing in the Republic of Moldova was conducted in 2014 and aroused much controversy because of it were published in three years and not entirely.
