Prague ended the year with a surplus of four billion. She spent the most on investment
The capital’s economy in the first quarter of this year ended with a surplus of 4.4 billion crowns, roughly the same. Revenues reached approximately 24.65 billion crowns and expenditures approximately 20.2 billion crowns.
The metropolis has spent over two billion on investments, which is slightly more than last year. This follows from the municipality’s report on the implementation of the budget for the first quarter of this year. The economy of the whole of Prague ended up last year with a surplus of 15.99 billion crowns, which was more.
Of the total revenues, the highest amounts are tax revenues, which reached approximately 16.4 billion crowns. Of these, value added tax brought the most money to the city treasury. Non-tax revenues are less than four percent. The city also obtained money from capital revenues or from so-called transfers from the state budget or from its own economic activity.
The majority of expenditures were current expenditures, which reached about 18.2 billion crowns. The city gave the most money for education, over 6.6 billion crowns, and for transport, which went to about 6.3 billion crowns. The city also donated more than a billion crowns to health and social care, for example.
Capital expenditures climbed over 2.1 billion crowns in the first quarter, which is limited to almost 327 million crowns more. The city invested the most money, a total of 513 million crowns, in transport. More than 258 million crowns went to education and invested more than a hundred million more in culture and tourism, urban infrastructure or community development, among other things.
For this year, the capital has an approved budget with revenues and expenditures of 92.6 billion crowns, which is more ensured. Approximately 19.7 billion will be spent on investments, of which more than four billion will go to metro D. Of the expenditures, they make up the majority of current expenditures, namely about 70.9 billion crowns.
