Prague 2 – Vinohrady: Cross apartment for victims of domestic violence
ROSA has been operating in Prague and other places in the Czech Republic for almost 30 years. It provides comprehensive social services to victims of domestic violence. The center will receive social and legal counseling, psychological counseling, assistance in communicating with authorities and courts, but also assistance in finding employment and placing children in schools and schools.
Křížový byt is another service provided by the ROSA center. The apartment is a temporary safe place for women or childrenand where they can hide from the dangers that threaten them at home for seven days. During these seven days, the staff of the center will provide them with additional accommodation and the necessary Help.
Words of the head of the help center
The head of the center, Branislava Marvánová Vargová, explains how the assistance is provided: “Victims of domestic violence face a number of obstacles in resolving their situation. In addition to visible physical footprints, they experience fear for themselves or their loved ones. even anonymously, a crisis stay or a long-term stay in a secure house with a secret address ”. She also added scary statistics from an already functioning crisis apartment, where ten victims have already found refuge. Nine of them suffered outright physical violence, with fists and beatings in the head. In one case, even the violence took place on a pregnant womanor the victim was threatened with a knife.
“It is unacceptable that abused women and children do not find support from us. Be able to in crisis situations leave from an environment in which violence occurs is crucial. I am glad that we managed to find another apartment with an ideal layout for this type of services in a record short time, ”added Michal Zuna, the councilor of Prague 2 for security.
Non-stop crisis line
ROSA increases the capacity to help as the original four beds today add another ten. At the same time, they are improving the availability of assistance and putting into operation a free emergency telephone line, which will be available 24/7, the line number is 800 60 50 80. This is the first such line in the Czech Republic that meets the recommendations of the Council of Europe regarding standards for telephone crisis assistance in the area of violence against women.
