Population of Prague: In the first quarter, it increased by 2556 people

2556 people came to Prague in the first quarter of this year, so the capital had 1,278 million inhabitants at the end of March. More people died before they were born, securing the people who immigrated to the metropolis. This follows from information published on Monday by the Czech Statistical Office.
In Prague from January to the end of March, 3,158 children were born and 3,262 people died. While there were 104 fewer births in the metropolis in the first quarter, 2,660 people moved. 12,073 new inhabitants came to Prague and 9,413 people left. Statisticians record 603 marriages in the first quarter, almost 250 more than in the first three months of last year, when ceremonies were limited by anti-epidemic measures. Statistics on divorce statistics were not published due to revisions.
Across the country in the first quarter of this year 3,200 inhabitants came to 10.52 million. According to CZSO data, the increase was ensured only by foreign migration. People who received temporary protection in the Czech Republic in connection with the war in Ukraine are not included in the balance sheet. According to data from the Aliens Information System, there were 250,000 at the end of the first quarter, statistics said. In the first three months of the year, 24,200 children were born, but almost 31,900 people died. In a natural way, the Czechia lost 7,600 people.
The capital remains the second most populous region in the Czech Republic. In the first place is the Central Bohemian Region, where at the end of March lived 1.39 million people. The South Moravian and Moravian-Silesian regions also have more than a million inhabitants.
