The end of the EuroArt Prague festival will belong to the authors of the 19th century
The most important representative of operatic verism, the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, created Crisantemi – a unique work for string quartet, during one night and dedicated it to the memory of the late Prince Amadeus di Savoia, Duke of Aosta. Echoes of this piece can also be heard in the opera Manon Lescaut. The work will be performed by the festival’s residential ensemble, Stamic Quartet. The ensemble also included in the first half of the concert the work of one of the main representatives of the Russian National School of the 19th century, Alexander Borodin, String Quartet in D majordedicated to his wife Kateřina Protopová with the memory of their acquaintance of the authors.
The festive end of the festival will be extensive Concerto for Piano, Violin and String Quartet Op. 21 French author Ernest Chausson. The Stamics will introduce their former mayor as their guests Bohuslav Matoušek pianist Igor Ardashev.
