This Sunday, June 12, the inhabitants of Lyon and the inhabitants of the 14 constituencies of the Rhône will be called upon to vote for the 1st round of the legislative elections in order to elect their deputies. Voters who cannot go to their polling station, but who still wish to express themselves can still do so via a power of attorney, explanations.
A little less than two months after the presidential election, which saw the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, Lyon voters are again called to go to the voting booth this Sunday, June 12 to elect their deputies. In the Rhône, 14 positions are to be filled, of which 4 are located in Lyon.
Voting is a right and a democratic duty given to all French adults registered on the electoral lists. People who are unable to go to the polls can however make a proxy by instructing another voter to vote in their place and it is not too late five days before the second round. We explain to you.
To whom should the power of attorney be entrusted?
All voters unable to vote can take the process. Since January 1, 2022, proxy voting has been made easier and meets new terms. A voter can now give power of attorney to a voter of their choice, even if the latter is not registered in the same municipality. However, the person in charge of the vote (proxy) must go to the polling station where the absentee is registered.
How to make a power of attorney?
According to the website Service-Public.fr there are three different ways to perform the process.
- The first: with the MyProxy teleservice . By completing the online form, the principal will receive a “Maprocuration” registration reference. It will then be necessary to validate the request with a police officer, a gendarme, or in a consulate. At the time of validation, the agents will only need this reference and the identity card of the applicant.
- The second: with the form available online. After filling and printing, you will also have to go to a police station, a gendarmerie, or a consulate.
- With the form (Cerfa n° 12668*03) available at the police station, the gendarmerie, the court or the consulate.
Until when can the request be made?
The power of attorney must be made as soon as possible, in particular because of delivery times. However, it is possible to make a power of attorney at any time, until the day before the vote, but if the town hall does not receive your request in time, you simply risk not being able to vote.
Can a power of attorney be terminated?
Yes. Since this year, it is possible to terminate a power of attorney established on the teleservice Mapproxy . Once again, you are asked to go in person to a police officer, a gendarme or an agent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to validate this request for termination. It is also possible to check whether a power of attorney has been given or received on the online service. Ask about your electoral situation.
