“Dvorecký Bridge is one of the most important constructions that will help to develop the tram network in Prague,” said Deputy Mayor Adam Scheinherr about the new line across the Vltava.
According to the deputy, the consortium of Metrostav TBR, Strabag and Firesta Fisher won the tender thanks to the lowest price offered, the shortest offered bridge time and the longest offered construction warranty period. Companies should build the bridge in 810 days after taking over the construction. The construction work will be covered by a warranty of 72 months, ie six years, and the reinforced concrete structure of the bridge 120 months, ie ten years. The metropolis should sign a contract with a selected construction contractor this week, Scheinherr said.
The eastern outlet of the bridge will be at Žluté lázně north of Jeremenkova Street, the western one will be near the Lihovar tram stop. According to the square, the bridge should start to be built on the side of Smíchov. The architectural form of the bridge was created during the last management of the city, mostly designed by the Tubes and Atelier 6 studios. The bridge will be 388 meters long and 16 meters wide.
The bridge will change its name, perhaps Madeleine Albright
The design from the architects should fit non-violently into the Vltava valley. In searching for a shape solution, the authors were inspired by František Mencl, who was a bridge designer for the capital city of Prague in the first half of the 20th century. According to them, Mencl was well aware of the importance of fitting well into the surrounding buildings and the urban landscape and not disturbing the valuable panorama.
Bridge designation Dvorecký most is a working name. This year, Scheinherr suggested that Madeleine Albright be named after the late former US State Department. The final name of the new bridge will be discussed.
The Štvanická footbridge between Prague’s Holešovice and Karlín is now being built in the metropolis. The Libeň Bridge and the listed Hlávkův Bridge should also be renovated.
