Hanover (dpa / lni) – Despite rising interest rates, the demand for houses in Lower Saxony has so far been unbroken. As the Landesbausparkasse (LBS) Nord announced on Tuesday, the prices for used single-family homes will increase nationwide by 13.5 percent from 2019 to 2022 – per year. It is particularly expensive in Hanover: the median asking price there in the first quarter was 790,000 euros. Every fourth family home in the state capital was even offered for 1.25 million euros and more.
With just over 200,000 euros up for grabs, the houses were cheap, according to LBS, away from the big cities in the Holzminden and Lüchow-Dannenberg districts. However, prices there have also risen by 22 and 17 percent annually since 2019.
“The rising interest rates will slow down the real estate price development somewhat,” predicted the CEO of LBS Nord, Jan Putfarken. For homebuyers, however, it is important right now to save up enough equity and to hedge against interest rate risks.
