New bridge in Prague: The Dvorecký bridge will start to be built at the end of the summer
The new bridge, which was given the working name Dvorecký, should help the capital in several ways. Primarily will create an important connection between the banks of the Vltava between the Zlíchov and Podolsk embankments. The aim of the construction is to improve the connection of both banks of the Vltava in the southern part of the capital city of Prague for public transport, cyclists and pedestrians. Another advantage is the connection of the A1 and A2 cycle paths, which run along both banks.
“Transfer connections between the Lihovar and Dvorce transport hubs will improve. There will be two tram lines and four bus lines along the bridge. We estimate the Dvorecký bridge if at the same time that 50 00 users across modes of transport and significantly simplifies between the banks of the river. For example, bus line 118 will save Prague residents five minutes by diverting from the Barrandov Bridge, ”explained the mayor’s deputy for transport, Adam Scheinherr (Prague to himself).
Built in 2.5 years, 10 year warranty
Metrostav TBR, Strabag and Firesta Fisher will build the Dvorecký bridge according to the won tender. According to Scheinherr, these companies won for several reasons. “First of all, it was the lowest price, but the duration of the contract offered by this consortium was also important Noshorter and also offers the longest warranty period“Scheinherr said.
In practice, this means that the companies undertook to build the bridge 810 days after taking over the construction, ie in about 2.5 years. “We set the guarantees so that the construction work will be valid for 6 years and the reinforced concrete structure will be covered by a warranty of 10 years,“Explained Aleš Gothard, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metrostav TBR.
7th stage
The construction of the Dvorecký Bridge is planned for 7 stages, so that they are coordinated with the stages of repairs of the Barrandov Bridge. I reckon that at the main repair of the Barrandov Bridge, bus transport will move to the Dvorecký Bridge.
The first stage will begin with preparatory work, which mainly includes relocation of engineering networks, but also the construction of individual approaches to construction, construction of facilities for workers, as well as the demolition of some buildings that are now in the planned construction sites. This will be followed by the construction of the pillars and abutments of the future bridge, which will be followed by the concreting of the supporting structure and the removal of temporary bridges. In the final two stages, the construction of the bridge superstructure, roads and the tram body on the bridge is planned.
Location
The eastern exit of the bridge will be at Žluté lázně north of Jeremenkova Street, the west line will run near the Lihovar tram stop. It will be 388 meters long and 16 meters wide. The construction includes both bridgeheads, including a footbridge for cyclists, retaining walls and works of art. The space under the bridge will also be modified according to the design of the artist Kryštof Kintera.
On Monday, the last two wells of the geological survey of the Dvorecký Bridge between Prague 4 and 5 will begin.
