Hannover 96: That’s how the first day of the new coach Stefan Leitl went – 2nd Bundesliga
On vacation in Croatia, Stefan Leitl (44) gathered fresh strength for the new 96 job. The trainer landed in Hanover on Whit Monday – and had his first official working day on Tuesday.
This is how the first Leitl day went.
His players completed the usual medical checks and several performance tests (including sprints and jumps). Before the first official training in the arena (Wednesday, 3 p.m.), further tests are scheduled for the early morning from 8 a.m. Leitl will collect as much data as possible for regular comparisons throughout the season.
The 96 professionals tested at different times and kept going in small groups from the arena to the Olympic base. The new coach stayed in the stadium and used the time for intensive one-on-one discussions.
The eight newcomers also had their first 96 days. Fabian Kunze drove up in a chic white electric car (Mercedes). Max Besuschkow is happy that he quickly found an apartment near Burgdorf. Louis Schaub greeted in the broad Viennese dialect. The new Ösi coach Ralf Rangnick had not considered him for the Nations League (Schaub was not a regular player in Cologne) – should change in Hanover…
In the evening, Leitl was happy about his ninth newcomer. Havard Nielsen, who has signed until 2024, is coming from Fürth.
Gael Ondoua (Africa Cup qualifier with Cameroon) was absent on the first Leitl day. Likewise is Muroya, who is scheduled to start on Wednesday.
Striking: The pros all still wear the old 96 clothes. That will not change in the first training session on Wednesday. A 96 spokesman said that new clothes should only be available “in the course of preparation”.
