SK Prosek: Staidon rescue? The purchase is being considered by Prague 9 and the municipality
The plan of cooperation between the capital and Prague 9 in the negotiations on the acquisition of the SK Prosek sports complex into common property was discussed on Thursday by members of the property commission of the capital city council. According to the representatives of the City Hall of Prague 9, it was agreed that the ninth city district will strive to obtain a part of the sports ground in Střížkov and the capital should get parts of the area in Letňany. According to Portlík, its current owner now wants about 200 million crowns for the complex.
The threat of residential houses
The SK Prosek complex is obsolete and its further operation is financially long-term for the organization untenable. Therefore, the club’s management used to use half of the 4.2-hectare plot of land for the construction of residential houses. However, the necessary change of the zoning plan in May 2020 is the council of the capital did not support and vice versa preservation of sports in the locality. A petition was also initiated against the development of the sports ground, which was initiated by the Nový Prosek association in 2019 and which was signed by about 3,000 people. According to a member of the Petitions Committee, Olaf Deutsche, the signatories feared, among other things, further concentration of buildings and loss of sports facilities.
Modernization of the obsolete
If and the city district sports the city gets into their ownership, they want today obsolete complex modernizes and developst. A sports hall and new playgrounds could be built, as previously stated by the councilor of the capital Vít Šimral (Pirates).
According to the mayor of Prague 9, Tomáš Portlík (ODS), there are plans to expand sports opportunities for sports clubs and the public. Portlík stated that Prague 9 is striving to acquire the complex into its long-term ownership, and the town hall has prepared a proposal for the revitalization of the sports ground since 2020..

SK Prosek Prague is the largest sports club in Prague 9 and Prague 18. It brings together seven divisions, including badminton, basketball and volleyball. About 700 members are registered in the sections. Its football history is interesting. In the past, TJ Kompresory Prosek played his matches here, where he learned to kick the ball with his refined little Tomáš Rosický.
