They are “among the greatest talents in Swiss football”, are an “exceptional talent” in midfield in their home country and an “impressive reinforcement” in general: According to the press release, 1. FC Köln is certain that with the commitment of Alena Bienz (19 ) to have landed a real transfer coup.
The U-19 international, who has signed until 2025, is moving to Germany after seven years with FC Luzern. In the past season, she scored seven goals in twelve games in Switzerland’s top tier, plus two in three play-off appearances.
“I’m really looking forward to FC and the new challenge in the women’s Bundesliga,” Bienz is quoted as saying. She “felt very comfortable from the first second. With its values, FC is a public club and I’m proud to be part of this team from the summer.”
“Two-footed, dangerous, likeable”
Nicole Bender, FC Frauen’s sporting director, is looking forward to “a creative midfielder with a strong attacking drive. We’re happy that we were able to convince her to switch to us, despite the great international competition. She has good technique, is two-footed, dangerous and made a very likeable impression in the talks.”
FC had finished the first season after promotion in eighth place with 22 points from 22 games.
