Danish furniture store opens first branch in Antwerp: “Design, but accessible to everyone” | Antwerp
AntwerpYesterday a new branch of the Danish furniture brand BoConcept was opened in the Lombardenvest on the Wilde Zee. It is BoConcept’s first store in Antwerp, the second in Belgium. The store has an area of 411m2 and offers modern premium furniture, lighting and accessories, for budgets large and small.
Since 1952 BoConcept has been designing, developing and developing furniture in Denmark. The company was founded by furniture makers Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm in their small workshop in the town of Herning. Their ambition was simple: Danish quality furniture for a wider audience.
Today, the furniture brand has about 300 stores in 65 countries on six continents. Until recently, there was only one BoConcept store in Belgium, in Brussels, but that has now changed. The second Belgian branch of BoConcept opened yesterday in Antwerp, on the Lombardenvest.
Working on Waalsekaai
“Until five years ago, we still had a store in Antwerp, on the Waalsekaai”, says Alexander Talpe, responsible for BoConcept in Belgium. “But due to the works that started there on the Gedempte Zuiderdokken, there was less passage. We decided to focus on Brussels, but a store in Antwerp was not possible. The new location, in the Wilde Zee, past the store: it is a premium location where we can display a larger store than our previous furniture. We are also thinking of opening a store in Ghent and Knokke.”

How would Alexander describe BoConcept’s style? “It’s a Danish brand, so that Scandinavian, minimalist style is definitely there. Our furniture is design, but also accessible and affordable. Everything is easy to show in a room. The high-quality furniture in a Scandinavian jacket of neutral colours, soft materials and simple design can be furnished according to your own taste and personal budget: premium, but accessible to everyone. Our sofas start at 1,000 euros, but we also have a wide range for larger budgets.”
“Almost the entire collection of armchairs, storage furniture, beds, etc. can be customized to your own style, with a choice of over 120 fabrics, different colours, sizes, materials, functions and price categories. We also offer free styling advice in-store up to the complete restyling of your interior, including advice at the customer’s home, mood boards and 3D visualisations,” concludes Alexander.
