The Republic of Moldova has prepared scenarios in case Russia attacks Nikolaev-Odessa
Moldova will take certain measures if there are indications of the redirection of military operations to the Nikolaev-Odessa axis from Russia, said Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii.
“If there are indications of the redirection of military operations to the Nikolaev-Odessa axis, we will have to change our actions and be more active in responding to potential scenarios that would affect the territory of the Republic of Moldova,” Nosatii told a television show. TV Journal.
A career military man, Nosatii specified that in the event of an attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova, the National Armed Forces will defend the country, within the limits of its capabilities.
Anatolie Nosatîi admits that she is small and poorly equipped, but specified that there are about 6.50 soldiers and another 2,000 soldiers in the form of personnel.
On the other hand, the presence of Transnistria, which is an uncontrolled and highly militarized territory, near the right bank of the Dniester, cannot be neglected, the number of people armed there would be about 14,000. Of that total, only about 2,000 Russian soldiers were stationed in Transnistria.
“I would say that we cannot neglect the presence of an uncontrolled state that is so militarized,” Nosati said.
In his turn, the head of the diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, declared that the neutrality of the country does not imply demilitarization, and does not imply self-isolation, does not imply indifference towards international law, or towards which they are bombed.
“Neutrality means that we need a strong, well-equipped army that can defend its citizens,” said Nicu Popescu.
Expenditures for national defense have been increased for 2022 by 16.9%, to 885 million lei. Prior to these increases, the Republic of Moldova had allocated about 0.4% of GDP to the military sector.
