The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs meets his Danish colleague in Denmark
On Monday 6 June, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs Bjørnar Skjæran travels to Ålborg to meet his Danish colleague, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Rasmus Prehn. The program continues with several company visits in Hirtshals on Tuesday 7 June.
– Norway and Denmark have for a long time had a good fisheries cooperation. The good cooperation is healthy and crucial for managing the resources of the North Sea and Skagerrak in a good way. I look forward to meeting my Danish colleague to discuss issues of common interest and which mean a lot to Danish and Norwegian fishermen and seafood companies, says Minister of Fisheries and Marine Affairs Bjørnar Skjæran.
Denmark is the largest recipient country for Norwegian seafood measured by volume and the second largest recipient country measured by export value. Much Norwegian seafood is further processed or repackaged in Denmark before it is sent on to other countries.
– Denmark is a main market for Norwegian seafood and important for the handling of Norwegian seafood. I look forward to focusing on the important trade relations during the visit, says Skjæran.
During the trip, Skjæran will, among other things, visit Seawell Hirtshals and the largest salmon packing plant in the world, Hav Line Processing.
