Due to a fault in the substation in Chodov, part of Prague was without power
This morning, Prague was hit by a massive power outage from the distribution system in Chodov, which affected the center of Prague, as well as other parts of the city. ČEPS did not supply electricity to Pražská energetika (PRE), which tried to get electricity to the affected areas from other substations (eg in Malešice), in addition to PRE spokesman Petr Holubec.
The outage was caused by a technical fault in the substation in Chodov. The substation is now live, ČEPS spokeswoman Hana Klímová informed before 10:00. For example, the power outage stopped for nine minutes by metro on line C. Trams were not running on parts of the right bank and in the east of the city.
“Today at 08:48 there was a technical failure in the 400 kV ČEPS substation in Chodov in Prague, which caused a short-term power outage in some parts of the city. The tension in Prague was shortly after 09:30, the Chodov substation is already under voltage, “said Klímová, who was restored.
Prague Councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09) said today that the problem is that the substation in Chodov has insufficient capacity of supply cables, which is said to be a long-term problem. According to him, the repair in Chodov will take about two more hours.
“Prague has the advantage that it is connected cyclically, which we have done. At 9:38 the current to the affected parts was restored. We supplied electricity from other parts of Prague, specifically from the Řeporyje substation. Everything should be energized at this time. So the outage lasted less than an hour. We have information that the disability was the southern part of the city, the center and also Vysočany, “said PR News spokesman Karel Hanzelka.
Power failure energy stops all trams in the city center and on the entire right bank of the Vltava. The metro line C did not run. Trams in Podolí, Braník, Modřany, Bělehradská, Nusle, Michle, Spořilov, Želivského, Strašnice, Hostivař, Žižkov, Hloubětín and Lehovec did not run, informed Dopravní podnik hl. m of Prague.
The power outage in Prague stopped for a few minutes traffic in the Zlíchov tunnel and in the Mrázovka tunnel, which are part of the city ring road. Traffic lights didn’t work in the southeast of the city.
Due to the outage, payment terminals also did not work in the affected parts of Prague. This problem was reported, for example, by shoppers in Alberta in Strašnice.
