Masella (Siulp): “Few policemen, they have to train to hire new agents”
“The problem remains the lack of personnel: between now and next year in the province of Siena 68 agents will retire. Across Italy, approximately 40,000 policemen will retire by 2030. And all these people must be replaced ”. The provincial secretary of Siulp Cesare Masella asks the question. This morning the union congress was held, which confirmed Masella in the position. “The situation as regards the workforce is almost dramatic if we look at it in perspective and for the next few years. In Italy the schools in which new agents are trained have also been cut. In this way it is difficult, if not impossible, to be able to fill the gap that we will register in the next few years “.
Masella talks about security and throws the jacket at the politicians: “We haven’t invited any to our provincial congress – he says. – This doesn’t have to be a showcase for politics. The issues that must be addressed really and seriously, and not just in the electoral campaign “.
Siena continues to be a fairly safe city, if compared to other realities. “But there are signs – says the provincial secretary of Siulp – that cannot go unnoticed and that the police have to face repentantly”.
