Expo Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec, the City celebrates the centenary of its museum » The economic and political newsletter of PACA
The year 2022 marks the centenary of the Toulouse-Lautrec donation to the Albi museum (81).
This donation transformed the modest provincial museum into an internationally renowned museum. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of this unique collection in the world, an exhibition is organized until September 4 next by this remarkable museum located in the heart of the Albigensian city, in a site classified as World Heritage of Humanity since 2010.
An exhibition event
Called When Toulouse-Lautrec looks at Degas, the exhibition highlights the view that the young Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) had on the work of Edgar Degas (1834-1917) and offers a new approach of the work of Toulouse-Lautrec by questioning his sources of inspiration.
exceptional loans
Important loans, from major national institutions, such as the Musée d’Orsay, and from Europe come as well as from private collections, to illustrate the course of the exhibition and dialogue with the collection of the Toulouse-Lautrec museum, i.e. more than 80 works brought together .
A full entertainment program
A complete program of guided tours, workshops, meetings… is offered by the mTL throughout the duration of the exhibition. And entertainment punctuates the city over the months, with among other events, a nocturnal and luminous stroll in the gardens of the Palais de la Berbie which begins on June 5. So many appointments to register now in all the diaries!
