The core of the barist team of the café consists mostly of newcomers from Ukraine. The goal is naturally to connect Czech and Ukrainian baristas in the café area. Since the beginning of the Russian War, the mamacoffe team has worked with more than a hundred refugees. He prepared meetings for them, barista trainings, He helped them orientate themselves in the new situation and several of them in the coordination of these activities. Many Ukrainians already work in mamacoffee cafes and others form the future team of the community space and the Background cafe.
“Several women who have undergone our barista training have worked here briefly. When the situation in their region changed, they returned to Ukraine, repairing their houses, rebuilding the war-torn country. On the contrary, some of the hard-hit regions remain here. At mamacoffee, we always try to give people opportunities, and that was also the main motivation for opening the café and community center Pozadí, ”said Kolský.
The mamacoffe technical team, as well as a number of refugee women who actively participated in the work, helped with the reconstruction of the café area. “The whole project of the Background Community Center is possible mainly thanks to the support of the large owner of the space, to whom thanks are due,” said Kolský.

At the beginning of the war, the mamacoffee team launched several specific projects to help and support newcomers from Ukraine. On the one hand, the company donated all-day sales to the SOS Ukraine People in Need collection she also decided to involve specific refugees as much as possible and give them a job. The company has been working with newcomers in the Czech Republic for a long time. The company mamacoffee seeks to create cafes as meeting places for various, especially neighboring communities in Prague and supports similar cafes and businesses in other parts of the Czech Republic.
