Zurich opens a central advice center for energy advice
The city of Zurich is opening a central advice center for energy issues and is thus supporting private individuals and companies on their way to the net zero climate goal.
In mid-May 2022, the Zurich electorate voted in favor of the net zero 2040 climate target. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the focus is on reducing energy consumption and switching to renewable energies in the areas of buildings and mobility.
City councilor Andreas Hauri, head of the health and environment department, says: “After the clear yes at the ballot box, we are going one step further in terms of climate protection. With comprehensive advice, we want to offer citizens a wide range of offers, which also includes information on the available subsidies and on saving energy in the home and in the company”.
The city of Zurich supports the population with free energy advice and opens a central contact point in the city center. The energy advice offers of the various municipal service departments and specialist offices are now offered here together.
Energy advice for the city of Zurich in one place
In the climate office at Beatenplatz 2, EWZ, the environmental protection and health protection department in Zurich and the new Fachstelle Wärme Zürich as the city of Zurich’s energy consultancy advise the population on questions relating to heating replacement, building renovation, solar systems, energy saving and electromobility.
City Councilor Michael Baumer, who is responsible for the EWZ and Wärme Zürich as head of industrial operations, emphasizes: “With the energy advice of the city of Zurich, the city administration is reacting to the needs of customers, especially in the area of heat supply. We therefore want to focus on homeowners on the way to renewable heating solutions and support new customers and win them over for sustainable heating solutions».
The new energy advice offering follows last fall’s successful implementation of a Climate Office pop-up offering free walk-in advice for homeowners. The possibility of a personal consultation without an appointment was appreciated and actively used and is therefore now permanent.
The City of Zurich Energy Advisory Service is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pre-registration is not necessary, but possible.
