Senigallia 31/05/2022 – An experience to repeat that proposed to classes 2ALI and 2ELi of the linguistic curriculum, – participation in the project “Europas Jugend lernt Wien Kennen” = “European youth discovering Vienna” which gave the possibility for students and their teachers, Alesi Manuela and Canalini Leila, to travel to Vienna from 22 to 28 May 2022 to participate in a series of activities organized by the “Austrian Ministry of Education”.
This project was an excellent way to enhance the skills of oral comprehension / production of the German language and encourage its active use, not only in everyday life but also in the cultural and artistic sphere. In fact, accompanied by ministerial guides, the young students have visitors, carrying out interactive activities, the most significant places of interest that the Austrian capital offers: “Schloß Schönbrunn”, “Stephansdom”, “Schloß Belvedere”, “Galerie Albertina”, “Naturhistorisches Museum ”,“ Technisches Museum ”are some of the artistic and cultural beauties to which high school students went.
In addition, the stay allowed students and students to get closer to democratic institutions in Europe and in particular to those present in the city of Vienna. In fact, a central experience within this path was the visit to Vienna International Centerthe so-called UNO-CITY, headquarters of the United Nations in Vienna, during which internal staff expert in communication and youth training illustrated what it means to work internationally and what are the main ambitions of action of the Vienna office.
Before departure, in preparation for the week in Vienna, the students carried out a series of preparatory activities which included the review of the main linguistic functions of daily use, reflection on the concept of “intercultural competence” (to develop intercultural competences, such as for example the underground understanding, sharing and adaptation to the habits and customs of the host country) and the reading / interpretation of the map to learn to orient oneself independently within the city. Upon returning to school, the project envisaged a phase of synthesis and reflection on the experience: discussion on the experience and room for improvement, as well as the compilation of a logbook in German and the creation of a multimedia product that documents the experience.
In short, a magnificent opportunity for linguistic, cultural and personal growth but also a precious opportunity to promote cohesion within the group-class, encouraging mutual aid, the resolution of small problems showing flexibility in accepting to adapt to the needs of the moment. .
