National protest – competition of poultry farmers in Bulgaria Events Up to date
June 8, 2022
The Association of Industrial Poultry Breeding (member of BIA) will hold National protest – competition of poultry farmers in Bulgaria on June 8, 2022, from 10:00, in front of the building of the Council of Ministers, Sofia.
The following activities are followed on the day of the protest:
- Distribution and donation of eggs to the population under the title – “Better to give them away than to sell them for no money.”
- Conducting a competition for targeting eggs on targets with the faces of Ministers Kiril Petkov, Asen Vassilev and Ivan Ivanov.
- Closing the road in front of the Council of Ministers.
Following successive meetings with the Ministers of Agriculture, Finance, Economy and the Prime Minister, in which it is not promised to justly win the profits from the Kovid-19 pandemic and the economic losses caused by the war in Ukraine in the form of liquidity to cover the losses for past periods, wheat and maize at preferential prices, fair compensation of market prices in cases of influenza and salmonella in birds and all this with a deadline of three months ago, we decided that the only way to declare the dire situation in the sector of birds is through protests through which to set out our demands and proposals.
So far, it is not responsible that it is not possible to support the poultry sector under NACE measures, because there was no regulatory framework from the EC on which to develop assistance. It became clear that in Romania, Poland, France, Germany and other EU countries, for the second year they are going to support their poultry farmers under NACE schemes.
In Bulgaria, since the beginning of the KVID pandemic in 2020, 309 ml have been paid so far. BGN under KOVID measures for all areas of agriculture – “Crop, Livestock and Beekeeping”, in which funds we NO we figure. He asked that the attitude towards our sector is offensive and inadequate. The poultry sector is the largest carrier of VAT in the state budget (for the agricultural sector), providing a contribution of nearly 100,000 people throughout Bulgaria, the largest consumer of feed in all industries and therefore suffers the most serious losses to date is left to the whims of fate and is an extremely uncompetitive position compared to other birds in the EU, which in the second year will be supported by your CTEA measures.
At the same time, the prices of eggs, which come out of the producer for X levs, are sold in retail chains twice as expensive. Which is inexplicable for us and this seriously damages the end user.
We are aware that our sector needs long-term measures and a strategy for the next 20 years to maintain best production practices and the quality of our products in order to minimize the smuggling of low-quality chicken and eggs from other countries. to increase biosecurity on farms, etc., but due to the difficult situation we are in – from crisis to crisis, high inflation, prohibitively expensive raw materials, double the price of feed, high energy prices and high taxes paid by everyone month, forcing us our demands are basic short-term measures with rapid effect, as in this situation we appreciate many bankruptcies.
Protesters’ demands:
- Reduction of VAT to 5% when updating the budget for initially produced agricultural products (Raw material production).
- Involvement of the poultry sector in the crisis budget allocated by the EC to deal with the economic effects of the war in Ukraine in the amount of 500 ml. euro for the EU.
- Involvement of the poultry sector in the time frame of the EC, which budget of 5% of the RDP for NACE measures.
- Change in the methodology of the amount of monetary compensations at market prices, in case of destruction of the infected birds with avian influenza or salmonella and their payment in time.
- From the money for grain, which the state provides – BGN 1.1 billion to be allocated (after the calculations) and to be given directly to poultry farmers for the purchase of housing and corn for harvest.
- To open a credit line for financing poultry farmers through the SFA with preferential interest rates.
If these requirements are not met – for small and medium-sized poultry farms this will mean secure bankruptcy in this difficult and unprecedented situation in which we find ourselves and which requires urgent and courageous action.
