The management of the capital has been preparing “anti-cross” assistance to people in need since the autumn
“In the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine as a result of the crisis, household energy prices and inflation are rising sharply. This situation is causing the people of Prague to lose their ability to maintain their housing and meet basic living needs,” the document approved by the deputy said.
Drahota also affects children. There is a growing interest in free school lunches
According to him, the threat to a large part of the population from poverty affects not only individuals and families, but the entire Prague economy, because people in financial distress stop spending on necessities. The text of the “press” received refers to a survey recently conducted by PAQ Research for the iRozhlas server. According to this survey, there are currently around a quarter of a million Praguers in real incomes, ie almost a fifth of the metropolitan population. Many others seem to be approaching such an unhappy state.
Under the influence of global events, household expenditures on basic goods and services have recently increased by CZK 10,000 per month, and mortgages are now rising by an average of CZK 5-10,000 per month for the people of Prague after the end of the fixation.
More money, less bureaucracy
The capital is ready to release about a billion crowns from its still relatively rich cash register to mitigate the effects of the crisis. The different will be able to accumulate and the individual family can temporarily improve their budget by several thousand a month. In order to eliminate secondary bureaucracy as much as possible, it will be sufficient to submit an application and a sworn statement to obtain support.
Specifically, school lunches, school fees, including meals, and, to a certain extent, school clubs, trips or aids should be reimbursed to those interested in the city budget from the autumn. From the beginning of next year, families with high housing costs will be able to apply for a special contribution of crowns per month, while seniors will be able to pay the same amount to compensate for rising energy prices during the autumn.
Retirees should also have free lunches at select organizations. The municipality also plans to support sports clubs that offer activities for children from families at risk of poverty.
They will not receive the 5,000-year allowance. But the state also admits it to foster parents
Specific assistance tools will be examined in the coming weeks by an expert consultation group composed of representatives of non-profit organizations, the Labor Office, schools and schools, city districts, etc. Until then, the councilor for social affairs, Milena Johnová (Prague herself), also has the task of “creating an analysis of data from which a definition of poverty-stricken groups will emerge.”
According to the leader of Prague, Jan Čižinský, the emerging help “in speed and simplicity” can be an inspiration for the government as well. “We cannot ‘investigate’ this crisis at the expense of people like the Kalousek government has tried. Vouchers, collections, deposits, mortgage payments and ordinary purchases are starting to be a black moth and many families and individuals are literally on the brink of saving. “Entrepreneurs and sole traders. We have to help them,” said Čižinský.
Support yes, but targeted, not scattering
His coalition colleague Jiří Pospíšil (United Forces for Prague / TOP 09) welcomes the intention to help, but with reservations. “Social problems are likely to intensify in the coming months. And given the high cost of living in the metropolis, some form from the city, in addition to the state, it will certainly be desirable. On the other hand, support must be targeted, it would be nonsense to distribute money Unfortunately, the way in which Mr. Čižinský presented the idea lacks deeper thought and confirms all the signs of political marketing aimed at left-wing voters, “said Pospíšil, according to which Prague did not consult its coalition partners before publishing it.
“I understand his behavior. Given that it is logical, because in my opinion Prague is to compete mainly with the Pirates and the STAN movement for voters from the center on the left. At the same time, however, I reject the idea that insensitive, “added the experienced politician, who in the September municipal elections will be number two on the Prague candidate Together (TOP 09, ODS).
The position of the Civic Democrats is similar, most of which were missing in one hall when voting on the plan. “This assistance is a joint proposal and as a co-sponsor I knew that there were enough votes to be accepted, which happened. All ODS deputies agreed with the intention,” said Tomáš Portlík, deputy and mayor of Prague 9.
However, Prague insists that the aid is well set up in principle and the details will soon be fine-tuned. “It is absolutely undesirable for children to face further trauma after leaving a pandemic, such as leaving the ring or being isolated from the group, because parents do not have to pay for outdoor schools or trips and it is no longer possible to allow these children to starve,” he said. main reason for the intended aid explanatory memorandum to the project.
