Chisinau, May 30. / MOLDPRES /. In the Republic of Moldova, for the first time, an organ taken from Romania was transplanted. Two kidneys taken from a patient in the Republic of Moldova have reached patients in the neighboring country, MOLDPRES reports.
According to the Ministry of Health, a woman from the Republic of Moldova, in an extremely serious condition, diagnosed with end-stage liver cirrhosis, benefited from a liver transplant of a donor from Romania. It is the first time that an organ taken from Romania is transplanted in the Republic of Moldova. Bringing the transplant to the country made it possible to offer an agreement in the field of organ donation and transplantation, signed by the representatives of the transplant agents from the two countries.
The liver was brought to the Republic of Moldova by the Romanian Mobile Emergency, Resuscitation and Release Service (SMURD), and was later transported to the Republican Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moşneaga”, where it was soon transplanted to a patient. The surgery was successful and the patient is feeling well.
At the same time, our country sent two kidneys to Romania for the first time, because no compatible people were identified in Moldova. The kidneys were taken from a 41-year-old man who was brain dead. The organs were transplanted by doctors from the Regional Renal Transplant Center within the Clinical Hospital „Dr. CI Parhon ”, Iași.
