ignition delay on the electoral panels of Grenay and Liévin
These two municipalities of the 12th district of Pas-de-Calais had not installed all the billboards this Monday, May 30, while the official campaign began at midnight. A hiccup denounced by outgoing deputy Bruno Bilde (RN), before being repaired during the day.
First day of the official legislative campaign and first hiccup. From midnight, this Monday, May 30, the municipalities had to reinstall the billboards to present all the candidates for deputy. But in Liévin and Grenay, municipalities of the 12th district of Pas-de-Calais, shortcomings have been noted.
It was the outgoing deputy, Bruno Bilde (National Rally), who denounced via Twitter the non-compliance of the situations within the two town halls. What exactly does he blame the two municipalities for? According to him, at 9 a.m. on Monday, the town hall of Grenay (PC) would have put up only five billboards, while ten candidates would stand for election. A Liévin (PS), he denounces the total absence of panels in the early morning.
The position of the candidates on these panels (symbolized by a number) is the result of a draw carried out by the Prefecture. Bruno Bilde’s RN list inherited the number 9. As a result, in Grenay, the outgoing deputy found himself without a place to stick his electoral propaganda.
“Out of 24 municipalities, only Liévin and Grenay breaking the law by not making signs available to all candidates!”, he exclaimed, in a Tweet published at 9:08 a.m. on Monday, May 30. The navy blue candidate indicates having initiated a procedure before the administrative court, while a bailiff would have come to ascertain the facts.
What does the election code say about election billboards? “In accordance with thearticle L51 of the electoral codemetal panels must be installed by all municipalities […] throughout the duration of the official campaign, mention the information site Public life. VSEach candidate or pair of candidates has a space.”
Contacted, the mayor of Grenay recognizes a “mistake”. “An instruction was given to separate the panels in two, so that there are ten slots, but this was misinterpreted, he said. It’s my fault, I should have gone to check.” The latter said that this breach was resolved at the end of the morning.
Laurent Duporge, the mayor of Liévin, also confirms that “Not all panels were installed” this Monday morning. “My technical services director explained to me that they had a little delay because of the events of the Ascension weekend”, he specifies. The problem should be settled during the day.
Finally, this hiccup is less an administrative flaw than a political bickering. As a reminder, Grenay is a communist, Liévin is a socialist. Bruno Bilde is an elected member of the National Rally. The latter suggests that these two municipalities would have done a favor to the candidate of Nupes (New People’s Ecological and Social Union)Jerome Darras. “Everyone played the game, except the municipalities where there are the candidates of Nupes, Jérôme Darras, who is deputy mayor of Liévin, and Christelle Buissette (his alternate Editor’s note)who is deputy mayor of Grenay”, says Bruno Bilde.
An argument that does not hold water according to Christian Champiré: “Jérôme Darras was also deprived of a panel, because he is number 6.” And to add: “Bilde is in his role of opponent, but on our side, we did not mandate a bailiff when he started to put up posters on Sunday afternoon (before the official launch of the editor’s note campaign)in Bully-les-Mines. Before scratching the RN candidate: “In 5 years, this deputy has never come to my office, he is incapable of respecting Republican courtesy.” The battle for the legislative elections of June 12 and 19 is transmitted in the 12th district of Pas-de-Calais.
