Councilors want to speed up the issuance of an anti-noise decree in Prague. It has noise reduction from Braník Iceworks Prague 5 | From the region Pražská Drbna
Today, Prague councilors approved the intention to send the anti-noise decree to an abbreviated comment procedure so that it can enter into force in July after approval by the June council. The decree regulates noise from concerts in the Branické Ledárny, to which the inhabitants of the surrounding districts complain.
“There is even harm to health”
According to the decree, on-site concerts will be able to take place on weekdays only from eight in the morning to nine in the evening, on summer holidays, on Fridays and on weekends from nine in the morning to ten in the evening. Events over two hundred people could then take place only five times a month and on a maximum of three consecutive days, after which there would be a break of ten days. In addition, the volume should not exceed 50 decibels in the far vicinity. Last year, people measured up to 90 decibels there.
“In the area of Ledáren Braník, it organizes very noisy concerts during the summer months. There is even harm to health. Residents are bothered by such massive noise that they cannot live in peace, “ the councilor for legislation said at a press conference Hana Kordová Marvanová (TENT). According to her, hundreds of complaints come from Prague 4 and Prague 5 and the situation cannot be calmed down other than by a decree. This has yet to be approved by the council.
“This was preceded by negotiations with the organizers, which, however, had no result. In the first place, the organizers of concerts in Ledárny would run their activities in a way that does not interfere in this way. But last year it was unbearable, and this year the citizens are afraid either, “ said the councilor. According to Marvan, the organizers promised to provide technical measures so that residents would not disturb the noise so much. She is said to be going to see the first concert herself.
Twelve concerts are scheduled for June
The concerts start on June 2 and continue throughout the summer until September. “So far, 12 concerts are planned for June alone, ie basically every day. And the frequency and massiveness of the noise is unbearable, “ she stressed.
The inhabitants themselves tried to solve the situation, but without success. “They filed a lawsuit against the company that held it last year. However, the organizers changed the ID number instead of a remedy, “ Marvan Cordova explained.
According to the councilor, he originally organized concerts at the Exhibition Grounds, but the inhabitants of Prague 7 complained about them. The local town hall, led by Mayor Jan Čižinský (Prague Sobě), therefore called on the organizers to end them. “They moved to the Iceworks and instead of learning from it and doing it in a tolerable way, they continue to do so,“Described the councilor.
They sue Hřiba and Třeštíková
The Hluk initiative from Prague 4 also filed a criminal complaint, but against Mayor Zdeněk Hřiba (Pirates) and Councilor for Culture Hana Třeštíková (Prague Sobě). According to the representatives of the initiative, they tried to prevent the discussion of the planned decree.
“At all times, the suspect MUDr. Zdeněk Hřib and suspect MgA. Hana Třeštíková, everything culminated in the fact that on May 12, 2022, the suspect MUDr. Zdeněk Hřib to prevent, only to discuss the prepared decree at the meeting of the City Council, which is to take place on 16 May 2022, which was intended to be submitted by the Councilor for Legislation JUDr. Hana Kordová Marvanová. Suspicious MUDr. Boletus and MgA. Thus, Třeštíková is taking consciously active steps, which can result in serious impacts on several inhabitants, ” it is written in the criminal report.
The initiative does not like the venue itself. “There is a river where the noise spreads across the surface and the valleys here and there from the rocks and hills. That’s why it’s spreading so far. That is why no one complains in Letňany. There the noise spreads up and to the sides like in a valley, “ stated for the editorial office of Pražská Drbna Miloš Závorarepresentative of the initiative.
Previously, the problem of high noise was solved by hygienic stations, which were authorized to measure it. In 2015, however, it was canceled by a parliamentary amendment.
