Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri), after his elimination in Q1 of the Monaco Grand Prix: “We made too many mistakes”
Pierre Gasly (17th in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix, Alpha Tauri, at the microphone of Canal +) “I am extremely disappointed. We are performing well all weekend, we are fifth in FP3, I have to do the fourth or fifth time with my second lap on the first set. Then we decide to do only two laps, to go back to the pits and unfortunately we take the red lights a few seconds away and we don’t do the last lap.
We make way too many mistakes as a team and it’s costing us a lot on a weekend when we were super efficient in all the sessions. I am really, really disappointed. There are plenty of things we could have done differently, it’s up to us to analyze everything and understand why we made these choices, which weren’t the right ones. It’s not the first time, it’s a shame. There are a lot of emotions and disappointment. »
We make a series of mistakes, it will have to change because it is costing us a lot. We’re going to do what we can but we know how it goes here, we know that with the cars we currently have overtaking is very limited and the rain doesn’t seem to be there. -you -yourself…. We’re going to do what we can but when we see the performance we had all weekend and see where we’re starting from, it’s sad…”
Esteban Ocon (10th, Alpine, at the Canal+ microphone) “We weren’t where we wanted to be in free practice, the car wasn’t working at all, we were lacking in rhythm. We tried to change everything for this qualifying session and we found a lot of rhythm. It’s super positive, we found a car that was working but very difficult to drive. There’s still a lot of work to do on it. It’s a shame, it could have been better but considering where we were starting from, it’s still super positive. »
