Formula 1 | Magnussen: Haas F1 ‘has potential’ in Monaco despite bosses
The Haas F1 drivers failed to reach the top 10 this Friday in Monaco, on a circuit that requires a lot of precision and agility. Kevin Magnussen had not driven in the Principality since 2019, and he recognized that rehabilitation was tricky for him during free practice.
“It’s tough! Monaco has become an even bigger challenge it seems this year with these cars” note the Danish. “There are all the bosses, a lot of bosses that I didn’t know were there, you can feel them now.”
“In many corner entries the car is so nervous that if you go over a bump you lose the rear. It’s very intense but it’s still good. I’m eleventh, we have potential!”
“It’s very difficult with the traffic too, it’s a small track, we already knew that, and it’s the same every year and you really have to try not to generalize the others, it’s a real challenge. .”
Schumacher slowed down by a mechanical problem
Mick Schumacher was overwhelmed by a mechanical breakdown during the first session, which conditioned the rest of his day: “We had some issues, especially this morning, so unfortunately I couldn’t race for most of Free 1 due to my MGU-K.”
“I’m still catching up. However, we had a lot of running in Free 2, so now it’s about finding out what we need from the car to go faster. It’s really different. compared to last year.”
“It bounces a lot more and the bosses aren’t filtered out, so you can feel it straight away in your body which has an effect not only on the car but also in terms of driving. The approach will be different compared to the last year in terms of risk taking.”
