Since Thursday, May 19, the employees of the Continental Automotive site in Basso Cambo, in Toulouse, are on strike. The factory, where nearly 1,500 people work, is currently idling. The Toulouse site of German automotive group is the only one in France to manufacture electronic equipment for cars, such as tire pressure systems, electronic control units to control the various accessories in the body of a vehicle, or automotive solutions integrated into smartphones.
The employees of the group, who launched this strike movement, demand salary increases, of the order of 200 euros net for every Continental Automotive employee. They also ask that the profit-sharing bonus not be integrated during the NAO (Mandatory Annual Negotiation) period, and that massive hiring be applied in all sectors of the company.
“For us, there is no money! »
In a strike call agreementthe employees denounce a lack of increase for two years despite the company’s good financial health: “Continental’s shareholders received a dividend of 440 million euros. The work on the restaurant will cost 500,000 euros. But for us, there is no money! »
Received by the management on Monday, May 23, a delegation of seven strikers was able to present its demands, without however reaching an agreement for the moment. The strike is currently continuing. Both parties will try to reach a satisfactory solution in the coming days.
