2 reasons to participate in this intriguing treasure hunt in Toulouse
A florist is organizing a treasure hunt in the streets of Toulouse from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 May. She hopes to raise awareness about the war in Ukraine.
Only the most attentive or the luckiest will manage to get their hands on one of these red boxes. They are 150 hidden across the city by a young florist from Toulouse. A message is written on it: In case of love, break the glass. In case of lightning, break the glass.
Inside the box, a small bouquet of flowers. “The white flower is a rose, symbol of love”describes Emma Iankushenko, the florist behind the treasure hunt. “Around this rose, on a set of yellow flowers, the color of Ukraine. We packed them in a red box to represent a fire extinguisher to raise awareness of the urgency of the situation.
Emma is a florist in Toulouse but also Ukrainian. With his mother, they hold together Mr Flower, in the city center of Toulouse. This operation is not a publicity stunt for their store, but a cry of alarm on the situation experienced by their people. In each box, they slipped a QR code to tell their story. “All my family lives in kyiv”says the young florist. “We made several donations, sent the necessary but it was not enough therefore on an organized treasure hunt to be able to send even more on the spot.”
The QR code will also link to their shop and operation for Mother’s Day. This week, for each bouquet purchased in the shop, 5 euros are donated to the Unicef Ukraine association. “It allows us to be a little bit in the action, to do something at our small level”says Natalia Shevchenko, Emma’s mother and co-manager of the store. “It is a good initiative”greet a customer. “Today it’s rare to see people participating in all these issues in the world.”
Volunteers have until Sunday, May 29 to come to the store and support this cause dear to the two Ukrainians.
