The sulfuric acid terminal in Burgas has a strong smell of corruption in favor of an oligarch

Sugar Mizzy May 23, 2022

The terminal for dangerous goods in the port of Bourgas, where tanks for 50,000 tons of sulfuric acid are installed, is installed with a strong smell of corruption. This was announced by the MP from “Democratic Bulgaria” Ivaylo Mirchev and the former municipal councilor Dimitar Naidenov.

Naidenov’s February investigation led to the conclusion that the terminal was built without the mandatory Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). It is a world practice to build such terminals for dangerous goods far from the settlements, so that there is no risk for the population.

“A bowed head not only cuts it with a sword, but falls faster than a proud one.” This request in an interview with BNR MP from & l …

“We can guess why the EIA procedure was not carried out by the then director of RIEW-Burgas. This happens whenever it is necessary to exclude the public discussion and so that the citizens of Burgas cannot understand what is happening “, Naydenov commented during a live broadcast.

Mirchev and Naidenov said they would ask the Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov about the reaction on the topic. “Will it be used by the prosecutor’s office to ask the court to annul the decision of RIEW-Burgas on the construction of the terminal?” And if this decision is overturned in court, what will happen next? Do we have an illegal construction of a specialized sulfuric acid terminal? These are the questions that excite us, “Naidenov added.

“All the power of the state has been harnessed to serve the interests of an oligarch close to former Prime Minister Borissov. The Municipality of Burgas also has an Ecology Department, which has missed the construction without EIA and public discussion. It is again a matter of a strong smell of corruption, “he added.
