Pont de l’Ascension: disruptions to be expected on the SNCF network from Toulouse

Sugar Mizzy May 23, 2022

the essential
Like every year, the Ascension Bridge is synonymous with great departures. The SNCF announces major disruptions due to works.

SNCF continues to work on its network to improve, repair and/or optimize it, but all this work is not without consequences for users. On a daily basis, for those who use this means of transport to reach their office, there are many delays or difficulties. But on this Ascension weekend, one of the only public holidays of the year allowing you to “bridge”, the latecomers will go up a notch.

Indeed, “SNCF Réseau took advantage of the interval between major departures and major returns from the Ascension Bridge, from 26 to 29 May, to carry out four major projects, including from Toulouse-Matabiau station, connection operations of the Cazères signal box in the CCR (Centralized Control of the Network.

At the same time, development work at the Matabiau station is continuing. Consequences: from May 26 to May 29, train traffic will be interrupted on several axes of the region and in particular towards the Mediterranean coast. The axis will be closed between Narbonne and Sète from May 26 to 29 until 11 a.m.

“Strong disturbances”

Train traffic will also be interrupted between Brive and Cahors, between Brive and Capdenac from 3 p.m. May 26 to 10 a.m. May 29 Finally, between Castelnaudary and Narbonne, between Carcassonne and Limoux, Lio trains will not run during the bridge of the Ascent. In a press release, the SNCF would like to inform passengers “of the major disruptions to be expected on all lines departing from Toulouse-Matabiau, as part of the work on the traffic command post and at the Toulouse-Matabiau station”. .

In order to deal with these complications, the SNCF services will put in place “a limited road offer without being able to replace all traffic”. On the side of the TGV and Ouigo, on this same extended weekend, no train from and to Toulouse and Perpignan will circle. TGVs will originate and terminate in Montpellier St Roch or Montpellier Sud de France.

On the TGV Atlantique and Ouigo axis: no TGV traffic to and from Montpellier. The circulation of the TGV is planned “normal” by the SNCF from and to Bordeaux and Paris Montparnasse. Finally, the Intercités will be strongly impacted in Occitanie by this work.
