VSt is an unexpected consequence of the war in Ukraine: Belgian brewers are finding it increasingly difficult to obtain bottles of beer, reports our colleagues from HLN. The reason ? A large Ukrainian factory is shut down and a Russian producer can no longer export to Europe due to sanctions.
The consequences for the Belgian market should be limited. The returnable bottles being reused. The situation, on the other hand, is much more problematic for exports, where the beer is packaged in disposable bottles.
Moreover, when brewers manage to obtain bottles, it is at extremely high prices. “Each bottle that is not returned is a heavy loss”, regrets a brewer to our colleagues.
