Dmitry Rybolovlev draws up a positive balance sheet at the end of the season
In a press release published by AS Monaco, owner Dmitry Rybolovlev took stock of his club’s season, punctuated with third place in Ligue 1. The Russian oligarch retains the positive and congratulates his group which has never cowardly.
The end of the season was regrettable for AS Monaco, deprived of second place in Ligue 1 this Saturday. After nine wins in a row, the Monegasque club came up against RC Lens (2-2), in Bollaert, taking a goal at the end of the game, falling to third place in the standings. This forces ASM to go through a third qualifying round and a play-off to join the group stage of the Champions League.
“The group never gave up”
In a press release, Dmitry Rybolovlev, the owner of AS Monaco returned to the end of the season and draws a positive balance sheet. “The cruel scenario of this final meeting should not make us forget the last episodes of this battle that we waged in Ligue 1. At the end of this season, which has been through ups and downs, I want to remember the fighting spirit of the staff and the players, says the Russian oligarch. In the difficulty, the group has never given up, even achieving a remarkable series of victories, and is rewarded for its efforts by hanging on the podium – the seventh time since the promotion of AS Monaco in Ligue 1 nine years ago.”
If he had moved away from the Rock club in recent months, Dmitry Rybolovlev wants to get closer to his team now. He is in any case satisfied with the work of Philippe Clément, who arrived in early January to replace Niko Kovac. The Belgian should, unless surprised, be kept next season. “Our young team has competed in several competitions this season: national and European. I hope that it will draw on this experience to gain in maturity and regularity, continued Rybolovlev. It is with the desire to continue to grow and to progress, building on what has been put in place, which we will prepare for the next season.”
Third in Ligue 1 last season, AS Monaco took out Sparta Prague last August, before giving in to Chakhtar Donetsk. Aurélien Tchouaméni and his teammates then played in the Europa League, where the adventure ended in the round of 16 against Braga.
