Sweden only did when Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo Sabers) put a past US goalkeeper Jeremy Swayman (Boston Bruins) just two minutes into the first frame to give the Swedes an early advantage.
Team USA responded with an own goal about five minutes later when Gaudette (Ottawa Senators) scored her first goal of the night. Delano, Minn., Native and former Golden Gopher Ben Meyers (Colorado Avalanche) helped with the play.
Late in the second period, Team USA took a 2-1 lead after a powerplay goal from St. Cloud, Minn., Native Nate Schmidt (Winnipeg Jets).
Carl Grundstrom (Los Angeles Kings) balanced to two for Team Sweden in the third to send the match to extra time.
Gaudette got her match winner on a 2-on-1 breakout opportunity with TJ Tynan (Los Angeles Kings) lifting Team USA to a 3-2 win.
Swayman won in the net for the USA against his Bruins teammate Linus Ullmark, and stopped 20 of 22 shots he encountered.
