privé d’évènement pendant deux ans, un restaurateur retrouve son activité à la foire de Bordeaux
The last stands are being set up at the Bordeaux-Lac exhibition center. This May 21 marks the return of the Bordeaux international fair, canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic of Covid-19. 800 exhibitors will therefore be able to resume their quarters there for eight days, for sales and events between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. (a night is also planned until 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday 25), with an entry price fixed at 6 euros. The 2019 edition had provided 220,000 visitors, according to the organizers.
In Hall 1 of the Parc des expositions, traditional sellers of equipment for the home, garden or vehicles will rub shoulders with the farmers of the Salon de l’agriculture and their 400 cattle, 300 horses, donkeys and ponies. The 2022 edition will also offer a ancient egypt exhibition, dubbed “Tutankhamun’s treasure”. The last weekend of the fair, May 27, 28 and 29, the Bordeaux Geek festival will also return, on the theme from geek culture to women.
600 m2 of catering area
Overall, therefore, it is the year of reunion for all exhibitors and restaurateurs. A large part of the catering will also be provided by Sud Concept, based in Rivesaltes near Perpignan. Without a fixed restaurant, this company sets up around twenty temporary restaurants each year at fairs and shows. Accustomed to the Bordeaux fair and the Christmas market, Sud Concept will set up two large restaurants of 300 m² each“O butcher” and “O farmer”, in Hall 1.
On the menu of these two restaurants specializing in South-West France, customers can enjoy rib steak, duck breast, flank steak or even duck confit and roasted camembert for a average price between 20 and 25 euros. And even if the duck may not last all season, due to supply difficulties due to avian flu, the company assures that there will be enough for the duration of the Bordeaux fair. The two restaurants hope to make between 200 and 250 covers per day each, necessary for refund the 50,000 euros entry ticket to the organizer of the fair, and the 7 to 8,000 euros for a hotel to house the team of 40 people.
“Considerable aid” during the Covid and an activity “not in danger”
These professionals, who arrived a week before the start of the show, began assembling the restaurants on Wednesday. A first for many months: because of the Covid-19, they had been on partial unemployment for a year and a half. However, the pandemic has”not jeopardized” company, explains Dominique Chassagnan, its manager, who acknowledges having obtained “considerable help” and sell one “great country. France helped us a lot”. HER dozens of permanent employees was able to resume normal activity from the Toulouse fair in September 2021.
