The Japanese national team, which will participate in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has chosen Toulouse to set up its base camp, located at the Ernest Wallon stadium. The application file, carried by the Stade Toulousain and the City of Toulouse, accompanied by the Occitanie Region, won over the emblematic Asian team of Ovalie.
The Stadium of Toulouse Métropole will host the preparatory match France vs Japan on November 19, 2022 as well as two matches of Japan during the competition, on September 10 and 28, 2023.
“We are happy that Japan, a rising rugby nation, has chosen Toulouse as its base camp for the 2023 World Cup. Beyond the sporting aspect, it’s a great opportunity to promote our city and its assets. to the thousands of supporters who make the trip. As of 2019, Japan is rugby’s largest broadcast market. This is therefore excellent news for our hoteliers, restaurateurs, merchants and tourism professionals, who will benefit from these economic products,” said Jean-Luc Moudenc, Mayor of Toulouse, President of Toulouse Métropole.
