Verniole. The Toulouse Garonne Choir in concert at the church on Saturday
The Chœur Toulouse Garonne will present its program “Couleurs de Nuit” this Saturday, May 21 at the church of Verniolle, at 8:30 p.m.
This Toulouse choir, from the former Midi-Pyrénées regional choir, has decided to explore a new musical universe by addressing works mainly from contemporary Nordic choral music or written by contemporary composers.
Pianist and choirmaster Cyril Kubler shapes the sound palette of the choir in order to magnify the alternately dark and radiant colors of these pieces supported by the vibrant cello of Sophie Castellat and the virtuoso flute of Nathalie Lourties.
Newly recruited to the artistic direction of this ensemble, Cyril Kubler offers a modern vision of “singing together” where the conductor-pianist dialogues in music with the choir. The latter becomes an entity in its own right where each chorister lends itself to the game of personal artistic involvement. It is thus a question of offering an exercise of discovery of the other in the exploration of a harmonic structure where each voice turns out to be essential to the construction of the sound edifice.
Today’s music echoes with dignity the current events that agitate our time, it questions the place of human beings within the world in which they are spreading and invites us to a clever mix of listening and humility.
